Dreamscopes Kaleidoscopes

Jacqueline Bardner Smith began her career painting and teaching art at local studios in New Jersey. Needing to expand her horizons she enrolled at the prestigious Philadelphia College of Art and immersed herself in learning the art of children's book illustration. She went on to illustrate children's books for some of the most prominent publishers in New York including Davey Come Home with Harper & Row (AKA Harper-Collins), Gorilla Wants To Be The Baby with Atheneum, and Noisy Cow and Billy Goats Gruff with Grosset & Dunlap.

Life took a fascinating turn when she was commissioned by Franklin Mint to sculpt two tiny bunnies to be cast in pewter. She had found her true calling and thus went on to design and sculpt a wide variety of loved and sought after figurine, doll, and jewelry collections world wide. While her work spans many years and products, she is best known for Woodland Surprises with Franklin Mint, Teddy And Tiny Tots with Lenox, and Snuggle Babies, Natures Little Cherubs and Seeing Spots with Hamilton Collections.

Recently, Jacqueline decided to take a sabbatical from hectic commercial work to relearn the joy of creating outside the constraints of business and the "bottom line". Because of her love of animals and sculpting she decided to devote herself to developing a line of one of a kind, high end gallery quality kaleidoscopes that would intertwine beautiful art with magical engineering. The creation of her captivating Dreamscopes has been a joyful and enchanted journey that resulted in what Jacqui believes to be some of her most meaningful work.

Jacqui is a proud member of the Brewster Kaleidoscope Society.

Colorful bits of chaos tumbling into seemingly infinite patterns of order. Intriguing exterior art created with hours of sculpting with polymer clay, painting and curing coupled with front surface mirror systems promise to send imaginations soaring. A unique and wondrous journey emerges when one views these sun lit works of art that are thought to be meditative and assist in healing. Jacqui uses both 3 and 2 mirror systems but admits the simplicity of the 2 mirror image continues to excite her. She gives a lot of attention to choosing bits and pieces of glass and interesting objects that are
balanced in tone and color to reflect and enhance the flavor of the exterior art.

Signed, one of a kind, kaleidoscopes to be treasured from generation to generation.
